Our Beginnings

It started with a mission to find the "perfect coffee."

A pre-known impossible task for any enthusiast, yet still continue to pursue.

And after months of exploration to many mountains, and many, coffee tastings we came to realise  - that Indonesia, has some of the best coffee in the world! Comparable to the Café flooded streets of Melbourne in which we had back home.

The first coffee roast

One of the first types of coffee we trialled was from the high altitudes of Mount Rinjani, in Lombok. - And oh' boy was it Gold!.. "Liquid gold", The golden espresso was so good that we created our logo around it and developed it into what it is today, naming our first roast "Rinjani Gold".

The gold colour of our logo resembles coffee, and the shape, resembles the Volcanic Mountain, Rinjani.

After settling on our logo we needed to decide our location. Choosing the fringing island "Gili Air" to be the first base of our coffee roasting. Naming our brand "GILI COFFEE ROASTERS." with a mission to create that "perfect cup" of coffee in Indonesia.

Yes, we still believe it does exist.

Or at least, for now, the best coffee in Gili Air.

Introducing
Single Origin

Did you know? - that ONE single coffee bean can have more than 2000 different flavours!

Our roasting style has been developed over years of trial. We have created unique flavours from our single origin beans which has become a unique art form in itself.

"SINGLE ORIGIN" ? - this means coffee sourced from one single farm, crop, region, and in one country. Most importantly, it means traceability, the fact that you know exactly where it's from and what you are drinking in its purity.

Why Ethical Coffee Matters

As you probably know, the global coffee industry can "sometimes" be subject to unethical practices, and can easily be affected by global economies, unfair treatment and unjust sale prices.

We try to support the small scale farmers who do not have access to large storage facilities. Which allows them to hold the coffee for longer periods, which helps them to be less affected by fluctuating global coffee prices, giving them a fairer sale to the local market. - And we always ensure fair prices for our farmers even if it costs us more.

Indonesia

about local.

We do not import coffee at GIli Coffee Roasters and make an effort to source everything as locally as possible. And why would we? - Everything we need is here in Indonesia, and she produces some of the best coffee the world has to offer.

Our other ingredients such as; chocolate, vanilla, chai spices, and specialty teas - are also locally sourced.

By supporting local, we do not just support local farmers, we support local communities.
